The CH327 dining table by Hans J. Wegner from 1962 is a good example of how creativity combined with excellent craftsmanship can lead to an extraordinary, interesting design. CH327 is a solid wood dining table with soft edges and rounded legs that narrow towards the floor. The grain of the wood follows the length of the table top, which is supported by three different rails. Under the rails there is a side rail on each side, which continues along the entire length of the table. There is a space between the side rail and the table top. This creates the impression that the table top is floating. At each end there are two detachable legs connected by a crossbar. The legs and struts provide stability in the transverse direction, while the side rails provide stability in the longitudinal direction. The side rails are higher at the table legs and are closer together to increase legroom when sitting. The CH327 is available in two lengths: 190 cm for six people and 248 cm for eight people. Both tables can be extended at each end with a 40 cm wide additional plate, increasing the number of seats to ten and twelve. The elegant CH327 Table by Wegner is suitable both as a dining table and as a conference table. It can also be easily used as a desk.
