Kay Bojesen's Royal Life Guard Regiment consisted of several soldiers and the officer was part of the troops. Kay Bojesen first created the soldiers in 1940 on the occasion of the 70th birthday of King Christian X as a tribute to the Danish king. At that time, they stood guard as one-meter-high soldiers in front of Kay Bojesen's workshop in Bredgade. In 1942, Kay Bojesen created the smaller figures in the same size as we know them from the postman and the police officer. The officer carries his sword and stands as the leader of the regiment.
