The Royal Life Guard is a Danish infantry regiment founded in 1658 by King Frederik III. The bodyguard is on duty for the royal family in Amalienborg and occasionally in the other royal palaces and mansions.The red, ceremonial uniform is worn on special occasions and always with the characteristic black bearskin cap. This small guard is made of solid beech and oak and hand-painted by experienced craftsmen with great attention to detail. The guard carries an M/50 rifle sewn in oak and Dannebrog in cotton fabric.
