Silia is specifically crafted to seamlessly integrate into various room settings. Whether it's placed on the floor, low tables, or incorporated into different arrangements, the magazine holder offers versatility. Apart from its primary function as a magazine holder, Silia can also serve other purposes, such as storing yarn, games, and more. It exhibits adaptability and can cater to diverse needs and environments.
The concept of Silia originated from the idea of designing a minimalist magazine rack that stands independently and adds an aesthetic touch to any room. It comprises two identical discs with beveled bottoms and a transverse slot strategically placed at half the diameter of the disc. By rotating one disc and sliding the two discs together at a right angle, Silia takes shape with utmost simplicity and functionality. One of the remarkable features that define Silia is the visual and sculptural impact achieved when the two circular flat elements unite, forming a spacious, stable, and self-supporting structure.
The design process of Silia has been guided by a graphic approach and a fascination with fundamental geometric shapes. The design team embraced the challenge of merging the circle and the square, with the circle serving as the supporting element while the square symbolizes the objects it carries—magazines, books, and more. This combination results in a visually captivating and sculpturally appealing experience, elevating storage to an aesthetic level.
