During World War I, from 1914-18, a new kind of art flourished. Handmade creations by talented soldiers and army personnel became known as trench art. They used any material at hand... Cartridge cases, wood and cloth, at a time when airplanes were built of fabric on a frame. Popular brands were lighters and watches in all shapes and sizes. The aluminum propeller watch was probably designed by an aircraft engineer at a time when aluminum was only used for engines and small parts. An Art Deco pedestal showcases a truly charming little watch with a sense of history. Battery included. Colour: silver Material: aluminium Dimensions: LxWxH: 30.5 x 5.5 x 9.5 cm
