Lyngby vases are probably the best-known design of the Danish porcelain manufacturer Lyngby Porcelain. Over the past 10 years, flea markets, antique fairs and second-hand shops have been browsed to purchase the well-known vases. Equally popular is the new production of Lyngby vases. When the Lyngyby vase was originally designed, it was a great contrast to the classic and very traditional porcelain techniques. The elongated, grooved shape and elegant simplicity was something completely new. Until the 20s it was tradition to decorate vases with paintings, ornaments, small details and glazing. The company Lyngby Porcelain has broken with tradition and was inspired in particular by the German Bauhaus movement. The movement focused on the shapes and functionality of their products, not on beautifying. The form should be in the foreground and speak for itself. Since 2012, Lyngby Porcelain has been producing a new edition of the vases and since then the vase family has grown and evolved both in colour and material.
