Diaphan, plastic and simply extraordinary – all three terms apply to the Dogu™ lamp by the Danish artist, ceramist and designer Michael Geertsen. The creative Dane is inspired by the interplay between sculpture and functionality and this outstanding pendant lamp is no exception. The name Dogu is Japanese and refers to old traditional figures depicting animals and human-like beings – just like Geertsen's own art. Dogu's shade is made of bone porcelain – an exclusive material made from real bone meal and white clay. The translucent material ensures that the light is projected through the shade, making it warm and at the same time extremely comfortable, an ideal object to illuminate dark hours, especially in the north. The charming irregularities in bone porcelain have a lot in common with the beauty spots we see on natural leather hides. They underline the personality of the material and ensure that no two lamps are the same.
