The PK25™ was designed by Poul Kjærholm in 1951 for his thesis at the Copenhagen School of Applied Arts. The PK25, also known as the "Element" chair, is a good example of Kjærholm's desire to work with common, industrial materials. Kjærholm was determined to reduce the chair to a single piece of each material that led to the overarching trademark of the chair: it is a complex design with a steel frame consisting of a single curved piece of material.
